UPIA was first Established in 1998 as a satellite organisation of MAPIT known as (MAPIT Cheshire Office).

UPIA does share the same name with UPIA South ran and established by Paul Joslin in 1997.

Due to the consistency of productive investigation & research MAPIT Cheshire Office - UPIA was given its own independence on August 18th 2002 and has now become a recognised organisation built upon its own merits. UPIA continues to be affiliated with MAPIT / SEP and upholds the BITC Affiliation Program, which recognises & adheres to MAPIT Protocols.

Covering the United Kingdom, UPIA is dedicated to training and education in regards to the scientific study of anomalous phenomena and investigate and research the large number of reported incidents throughout the United Kingdom.

The UPIA are at the forefront of paranormal related research and investigation methodology and work closely with other leading organisations and scientific establishments. UPIA are at the lead of modern protocols and proven techniques. The UPIA work in a neutral realistic manner and do not promote their beliefs.
